Based on data from Regen SWOT Analysis Q1 2024 in Review, Weekly Sessions Notes and Executive Summary (2024)
This bull run we have an opportunity to raise and we’d be better of coordinating our fundraising across the main players and eco. This platform or a structure might be a cooperative bank – this is a pattern i’ve seen in other regenerative ecosystems. We can build a cooperative for ethical financial services with the objective of financing projects in the regen economy.
What is RegenCoopBank?
A cooperative bank is a financial institution that is owned and controlled by its members. These members are usually customers of the bank and they have the right to vote on the bank's policies and direction. The main objective of a cooperative bank is to provide affordable and fair financial services to its members, and any profits made are usually reinvested back into the bank or distributed among its members. It often serves specific communities and focuses on local development. Our focus would be nature-based assets, RWA, loans to regen infra projects etc.
Key assumptions:
- Money inflow will lead to the needed engagement & regen outcomes eventually
- Network activity is the one of the key indicators of value
- We can agree on cooperative funding

Intended results
Regen Network
The proposed RegenCoopBank would offer several benefits for the health of the network. Primarily, it would bring about financial inflow, which is anticipated to lead to the necessary engagement and regen outcomes over time. By working on a cooperative funding basis, the bank would promote a shared sense of responsibility and commitment among the network's members. It could also stimulate network activity, a key indicator of value in this context. Moreover, the cooperative bank would serve as an ethical platform for financing projects within the regen economy, further driving the network's mission and objectives.

Impact Investors
The cooperative bank would provide a platform for investing in ethical, regenerative projects, providing a return on investment that aligns with their values. It would also offer transparency into the network's activities, enabling investors to see the direct impact of their investments. By being part of a cooperative, impact investors would also have a voice in the bank's decision-making processes, further aligning their investments with their values and objectives. It provides a stable, risk-averse investment avenue as cooperative banks are often more resilient to economic downturns than traditional banks. Lastly, investing in a cooperative bank can provide steady returns and diversification for an impact investor's portfolio.

Environmentalists/Eco activists
Investing in a cooperative bank can be an effective way to support environmentally friendly initiatives. Many cooperative banks prioritize sustainable practices and fund projects that align with environmental conservation and climate change mitigation. By investing in such banks, ecological activists can directly contribute to the bank's capacity to finance green projects and promote a more sustainable economy.

Local Projects (csDAOs, local, indigenous, academic communities)
by pooling resources, it can help to reduce the cost of obtaining necessary capital. Second, it can provide a supportive community of like-minded individuals who can share insights and advice. Third, it can help to distribute risk more evenly among participants, reducing the potential for any one participant to suffer significant losses. Finally, because decisions are made democratically, project developers may have more influence over the direction of the bank than they would in a traditional banking model.

DApp Developers
As member-owned institutions, cooperative banks are inherently community-focused, which aligns well with the decentralized nature of web3. This allows for a more equitable distribution of resources and promotes local economic development.
Moreover, cooperative banks often have more flexible funding and lending policies compared to traditional banks. This flexibility can be extremely beneficial for innovative and rapidly evolving sectors like the dApps ecosystem, where traditional funding models may fall short.
Objective: launch complementary applications on the $REGEN ledger(s)
Key Result: # of users in the network

Lenders
(Speculators, degens, market makers)
For lenders, cooperative banks provide a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative sectors. They can enjoy a sense of community involvement and shared purpose, as their funds are used to support local economic development and technological innovation. Furthermore, as member-owners, lenders often have a say in the bank's policies and decision-making processes, allowing them to directly influence how their funds are utilized. Also, cooperative banks typically offer competitive rates, making it a financially smart choice for lenders.
Objective: lend to the $REGEN liquidity pools
